Bio:

From Verdi to Led Zeppelin, Canadian portfolio artist Stephanie Sedlbauer (she/her) is celebrated for her remarkable vocal versatility and commanding stage presence. A graduate of McGill University's Schulich School of Music, where she earned both her GDP and MMus, Stephanie has captivated audiences in roles such as Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito, Mrs. Maurrant in Street Scene, Mum in Albert Herring, and Elle in La Voix Humaine. Most recently, she was a featured soloist in Operatika Events’ production Arias of Seduction, a cabaret-style concert blending opera with the art of pole dancing.
Passionate about pushing the boundaries of opera and reaching broader audiences, Stephanie participated in A Good Mess Opera Theatre’s online musical haunted house, A Good Haunting Vol. 2. She is a recipient of the 2022 Jacqueline Desmarais Grant, was invited to Jennifer Rowley’s Aria Bootcamp at Sarasota Opera in 2023, served as an Opera Fellow at SSMF Opera Fest in 2022, and was one of the winners of the 2020 Coopérathon Open-Innovation Challenge with Opéra de Montréal. In addition to opera, she sings rock, jazz, and musical theatre, often blending these influences into her classical work.

Stephanie's versatility as a performer stems from her early experiences in professional musical theatre choruses at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, Ontario. She also spent 10 years as a competitive dancer in jazz, musical theatre, and ballroom styles and has trained in stage combat, specializing in hand-to-hand and light weapons techniques.

Beyond the stage, her portrait and production photography has been featured in Opera Canada Magazine, Footwear Plus Magazine, and La Scena Musicale. Her artistic portfolio extends to theatre directing, voice teaching, arts administration, web design, and work in the video game industry. In 2022, she returned to Opera McGill as production stage manager for their New Works Binge Festival and continues to work as their production photographer. She will next serve as production and stage manager for Toronto City Opera’s upcoming spring production of The Tender Land by Copland.
Currently, Stephanie is assisting in the development of multiple projects as an artistic associate with the indie opera company Musique 3 Femmes. She also hosts Montreal’s only recurring classical music open-mic event, Le Pub Classique, and is developing a solo crossover album blending opera with jazz and rock.

When not busy with her many projects, Stephanie enjoys trying new restaurants in Montreal, and wandering about the city with her camera.
